A friend recommended this place for hoppers, and I'm so glad they did. These are hands down the best hoppers I've had! From the first bite, you can tell these hoppers are made with real skill and care. The edges were perfectly crispy and lacy, while the center remained soft and flavorful. The batter had that ideal fermented tang that makes authentic hoppers so special. Whether you order plain hoppers, egg hoppers, or string hoppers, Chopsuey rice, Rice and curry, fish buns everything is consistently delicious. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner – you won't be disappointed!

We had an amazing dining experience at the Chuti food city cafe. We went there on a friend’s recommendation on a Friday evening for dinner and ordered the hopper meal (veg w lentils, one fish, chicken and one pork). All came with seeni sambal and katta sambal in addition to the curry. The serving was generous for $18 and included 1 egg hopper and four plain hoppers. The taste was authentic Sri Lankan and we absolutely loved it. To pair it off we had Lankan milk tea and masala chai. We tried the kotthu and noodles as takeout and that was delicious as well. There weren’t any extra oil as some places do. For dessert we tried the ribbon cake ($14 for a reasonable size slab). Attached to the cafe, there’s the supermarket so it was convenient to grab some groceries after getting dinner. Onsite separate toilets that were super clean. Plenty of free parking. We will be definitely visiting Chuti foods again!

A homely environment offering groceries and a chance to sit down and dine at their small arrangement of Sri lankan delicacies. They also sell desserts and baked breads but the star of the show are their meal deals. I took the one with 1meat and 3 veggies with rice and took chicken, beans, cassava, eggplant and lentil with their ghee rice. I feel like they should include 2protein and 2 veg dishes because it would give me an opportunity to their fish curry too. I did not enjoy the cassava but the rest was good with the fragrant rice and decided to conclude the afternoon with one cup of masala tea. It was nice to families coming out and enjoying the food. I would have preferred to dine outside if the it wasn't raining because the air was so fresh and the view was nice.

Today we took a trip to Phillip Island and started heading back around 3:15 pm. Passing through Pakenham, we decided to find a proper dine-in spot — not just takeaway. We called more than 10 shops around Dandenong and Pakenham, but every single one said the same thing: dine-in closed at 4 pm, no 5 pm service, and buffet only reopening at 6:30 pm. Then came the game-changer — Chuti Food City. They confirmed they had dine-in available with biriyani, rice & curry, lump rice, kottu, and so many other options. Service was quick for most dishes (the kottu took a little longer, but it was worth it). The place is clean, cosy, and you can even grab Sri Lankan groceries after your meal. Perfect pit stop when you're hungry before dinner time!

*They sell freshly made hoppers* Visited this location after going to the one in Glen Waverley (Spicy Wicket - Formerly Upali's). Difference is "Chalk and cheese", great food, great portions and exceptional service. They even have a small grocery store with Sri Lankan packaged goods. Was really impressed. Clean location and great portions. Great variety of options to choose from and can't commend the staff enough. All the best!
